The Malaria endgame: Innovation in Therapeutics, Vector Control and Public Health Tool (G1)- Keystone Symposia held in Hilton Addis Ababa

As part of the Keystone Symposia Global Health Series, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, ‘’The Malaria Endgame: Innovation in Therapeutics, Vector Control and Public Health Tool’’ assembled world leaders in molecular, public health and clinical research to address the pressing challenges that arise due the malaria epidemic and to find  innovative strategies to combat the disease.

The Keystone Symposia opened on Wednesday, October 30 with a joint session with the Grand Challenges Annual Meeting which started a few days before. Professor Kelly attended the annual Grand Challenges meeting and Dr Lauren Arendse who attended both the Keystone and the Grand Challenges gave an oral presentation at both meetings on the topic ‘’Establishing a Plasmodium Kinase Platform for Target-based Malaria Drug Discovery’’.

Five PhD students from the group; Constance M. Korkor, Dickson Mambwe, Mokhitli  Morake, Samuel N. Gachuhi and Lynn Wambua attended the and presented posters at the Keystone with four of them  being recipients of the Keystone Symposia Global Health Travel award funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
