Gordon Research Conference on the Biology of Host-Parasite Interactions

Prof Kelly Chibale, Dr Liezl Gibhard (PSO at H3D) and six postgraduate students, Peter Mubanga Cheuka, Godfrey Mayoka, Henrietta Attram (all PhD), Consolata Nsanzubuhoro, Kelly Chisanga and Luyanda Centani (all MSc) attended an intensive Gordon Research Conference on the Biology of Host-Parasite Interactions entitled 'Eukaryotic Parasites: From Discovery Research to Clinical Interventions' being held at the Salve Regina University on Rhode Island, USA from 10 - 15 June 2018. Prof Chibale gave ag a presentation entitled 'Exploiting the Host Haemoglobin Degradation Pathway for Malaria and Schistosomiasis Drug Discovery'.
Five of the six students also attended the pre-conference seminar on Sunday 9 June, where two of them (Peter Mubanga Cheuka and Henrietta Attram) presented a paper. All six presented posters at the conference as well.
